[6] Configuring the Symantec Backup Exec server - the prerequisites for backing up Oracle RAC
================================================================================================================
[6.0] Before configuring the Backup Exec server, the unique identifier of the Oracle RAC database (DB=clsopdb) has to be found.
Jednoznacny identifikator Oracle RAC databazy "clsopdb" je "1514125476". V ramci konfiguracie Backup Exec
server uses the value "RAC-clsopdb-1514125476" as the virtual Oracle RAC node.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# su - oracle
# sqlplus / as sysdba
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SQL> connect system/dbPassword123@clsopdb;
Connected.
SQL> select DBID, NAME from v$database;
DBID NAME
---------- ---------
1514125476 CLSDB
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[6.1] Nasim cielom je vykonavat zalohovacie aktivity v ramci Oracle RAC databazy "clsopdb" pod DB uzivatelom
"BACKUP_EXEC", so this database account has to be created in Oracle RAC and given the required
the permissions Symantec Backup Exec needs to run.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# su - oracle
# sqlplus / as sysdba
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SQL> connect system/dbPassword123@clsopdb;
Connected.
SQL> CREATE USER BACKUP_EXEC IDENTIFIED BY ORACLE;
SQL> GRANT UNLIMITED TABLESPACE TO BACKUP_EXEC;
SQL> GRANT AQ_ADMINISTRATOR_ROLE TO BACKUP_EXEC;
SQL> GRANT CONNECT TO BACKUP_EXEC;
SQL> ALTER USER BACKUP_EXEC DEFAULT ROLE ALL;
SQL> ALTER USER BACKUP_EXEC DEFAULT TABLESPACE SYSTEM;
SQL> disconnect
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# sqlplus / as sysdba
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SQL> connect sys/dbPassword123@clsopdb as sysdba;
SQL> GRANT SYSDBA TO BACKUP_EXEC;
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[6.2] For the virtual Oracle RAC node "RAC-clsopdb-1514125476" the DNS records have to be set so that
so that the Backup Exec server can reach this virtual Oracle node. That configuration can be achieved
dvoma sposobmi:
- Set the local file resolver on the Backup Exec servers (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts).
- Set these records on the DNS server itself. The configuration below shows that option.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DNS-SERVER# vi /etc/knot/domena.sk.zone

the addresses that can be reached over the network.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# /etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init restart
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These servers appear on the Backup Exec server:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- ORADB01-BCK.domena.sk (zdetekovane ako Windows)
- ORADB02-BCK.domena.sk (zdetekovane ako Windows)
- ORADB01.domena.sk (zdetekovane ako Linux)
- ORADB02.domena.sk (zdetekovane ako Linux)
- RAC-clsopdb-1514125476 (zdetekovane ako Oracle RAC)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[8.2] Since only the backend backup network (-BCK) is wanted, remove the servers without the "-BCK" suffix, namely:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- ORADB01.domena.sk (zdetekovane ako Linux)
- ORADB02.domena.sk (zdetekovane ako Linux)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[8.3] On restart the Backup Exec Linux agent tells the Backup Exec servers again about the servers removed in
[8.2]. The Symantec Backup Exec advertising to the Backup Exec servers therefore has to be turned off
to the Linux clients as part of the agent configuration. It is also needed because logging in to Oracle RAC
the database "clsopdb" is troublesome or does not work at all, and the list of database objects (tablespaces, archive logs, ...) cannot even be printed.
